April Special Legislative Session

01 April, 2008

Each year San Benito County LULAC membership holds community hearings on issues of importance to the Latino Community and invites and encourages the community to attend these sessions.

SAN BENITO COUNTY LULAC COUNCIL #2890 Sponsors
SPECIAL LEGISLATIVE SESSION
Saturday, April 5, 2008
YMCA Facility

This year we have invited Senator Gil Cedillo and Assemblymember Anna Caballero to address the LULAC membership and others who are welcome to attend this session. Legislation authored, introduced, and passed in Sacramento by members of our legislature are very important to every citizen and member of every California community. In San Benito County, LULAC is hoping to achieve a greater voter turnout by informing the latino community on the importance of legislation and the impact it has on every resident/citizen of this state and community.

Our goal is to encourage legislators to also come into our community and listen to our concerns about issues that have an overall impact on our families. While LULAC has successfully been able to reach out to latino voters on issues and encouraging the vote, we also want our legislators to be informed on the importance of rural communities such as San Benito County and our issues.

We are encouraged to move forward with our agenda of promoting voter registration and encouraging latinos to become involved in the electoral process. We are also encouraged with the support of Legislators such as Senator Gil Cedillo and Assemblymember Anna Caballero by accepting our invitation to address the San Benito LULAC membership this Saturday, April 5t, at the YMCA Facility beginning at 10:30am. We feel this is certainly a beginning for our community to be informed and included in the legislative process of adopting legislation.

The session is open to the public, however due to limited seating, we ask that you confirm your attendance to 831-673-2009 or email info@sbclulac.org .
